Learning To Say YES

In recent months, sadly, I have attend multiple funerals which of course is such a sad occasion but loosing members of my family and people who mean the world to me has taught me so much. Firstly, life is short and you don't know when it could come to an end. Secondly that there is one simple rule to living an amazing life and that's saying yes. Listening to the eulogy written for my Godmother inspired me so much, the amount of incredible things which she had done in what was unfortunately a very short life, she had taken every opportunity given to her and as a result had so many amazing experiences, and met so many different people.
Saying Yes is not something we are necessarily programmed to do, however its something you can train yourself to do. You never know what is going to happen as a result of the opportunity, so either you don't do it and potentially miss out or you do and either find it so boring or it could come to the most amazing thing. When an opportunity arises if there is anyway you can make it work say yes, even if your not too sure if you can completely do it yet- you'll make it work! As I keep saying you just don't know what will come of it. Now obviously don't go over the top and take this all too literally, you need to be realistic. Personally I am quite an anxious person, so I like to think things through and not just jump at things but recently I've been trying to be more relaxed give things a go and if it turns out badly just do something different the next time. A bit morbid, but if you died tomorrow, would people have a lot of stories to tell, would they have pages and pages of little anecdotes and experiences? Take every opportunity you can, and make it work- even if it means you do crazy things to achieve it. JUST SAY YES!

  2. So sorry to hear you've been through a tough time recently. But pleased to hear you're feeling motivated. Life definitely is too short and it's a shame we only realise it every now and then.

    Lovely post.

  4. I lost quite a few family members while I was still really young and didn't really get the chance to mourn properly because I didn't really understand what was going on. But as I've gotten older - and lost more family friends/members its dawned on me that I am more susceptible to say 'No' and not allow people into my inner circle.

Loss is hard. And each person overcomes it differently.

Maybe I will say 'Yes' more. But maybe I'll just open my mind to more 'yes' possibilities and not just shutting it down immediately.

  5. The same thing happened to me this year. I just keep losing members of my family (5 or 6 since the beginning of this year). It didn't really affect me because they were distant members, but I felt like time pass way too quickly to always tell myself the question: "What if ..." I took matter in my own hands and start being more confident and really excited about trying new things even if I was making a fool of myself. Like you, enough was enough and this was the time for me to start SAYING YES!
