MAC MSF Soft and Gentle

Contouring is out, and strobing is in. Meaning that the hunt for the perfect contour shade has been put on hold, only to be replaced with the need to find the ultimate highlight. Personally I feel like MAC Soft and Gentle MSF will be the one for me, you’ve probably heard of it but I thought that I would share my own opinions on most of the most hyped about highlighters in the blogging world.

Firstly, a note on packaging. Is it only me who preferred the old packaging of the MAC powders? This one isn’t bad, but there is something about the old packaging which I preferred. Anyway this one does the job, and keeps my powder very much protected which of course I want.
The powder is finely milled, pigmented and the colour is just incredible. Not looking glittery on the face, but simply leaving the most perfect glow along the top of your cheekbones which catches the light.  I love the champagne, gold shade with hints of pink running through it. This is a pretty much universal shade, however if you want something slightly darker more gold toned, Gold Deposit is another beautiful MSF from MAC which I can't wait to try out too.

It’s going to  take me forever to get through this, although I did see it as a bit of investment when I originally purchased it. Hitting pan on this is going to be such an achievement, its well worth the £24, seems very pricey I know but take my word for it.
I use this as one of the last steps in my makeup routine, as a finishing touch to my makeup. I use this to stop my face looking flat, and adding some more shape while leaving a lovely glowy finish to my skin.
Have you tried MAC MSF Soft & Gentle? What's your favourite highlighter?

  1. I'm such a huge fan of this, but I do find it a little too bronzey for strobing on my skin - I personally love the Mary Lou Manizer by The Balm!

  2. I've been eyeing this up for a long time, but didn't like the price tag! You're so right though, it looks like it'll last forever, so it seems worth it. Great review x

    1. It took me so long to buy it, but honestly I will not be hitting pan anytime soon! I read someone say that there's lasted them between 1-2 years, so I've got a long way to go xx

    1. I am still learning, but its contouring without the contour- so only using highlighter to emphasis high points of your face rather than exaggerating the shadows xx

  4. It's so pretty, but perhaps better for high summer. We're approaching September and my skin is already heading back into snow white territory :( It would be gorgeous over a bronze tan though x

    1. Personally my skin goes quite pale in the winter and I think this will be fine for me, but MAC do a slightly paler less bronze tone to it xx

  6. Omg, know what you mean about the packaging! When I got mine I was wondering if it was fake :/ looks like something from the set of star wars. Definitely not good/pretty for the price of it! Then again MSFs are gorgeous! I have gold deposit which is a lot warmer/gold than this and perfect for my skin but have been considering this/cheeky bronze next xxx

  9. Every time I read a single word about this (which admittedly is pretty often) I want it more. It looks gorgeous! Completely agree though, the old packaging was so much better!
