I am now the proud owner of the grand total of three MAC lipsticks, although my collection may be small it will be slowly growing as I have a new found love for MAC lipsticks. The one thing about my lipstick collection, is they are all quite similar.
(left to right) Cherish, Taupe, Velvet Teddy
As you can see I played it safe when separating with that precious £15.50 per lipstick, choosing all nude, 'my lips but better' colours. The first lipstick which I picked up was Cherish, I got this ages ago and reviewed it here. As you can see in the pictures it is the lightest, and more orange than the other colours. It is a satin finish, which means that its semi matte and has a slight bit of a sheen. It is a perfect finish for anybody with dry lips because its nowhere near as drying as matte lipsticks. Sometimes I feel like when I wear this lipstick and if I'm going out, my lips don't stand out as much as I would like they can look like they blend in a bit. However I still like wearing this lipstick, especially in the summer and I often wear it when I'm just wearing simple makeup or for a casual day look.
I mentioned this in my MAC Haul, but I bought Taupe when I wanted to get hold of Velvet Teddy but it had been out of stock for ages and I had given up waiting so went in search of a dupe. Taupe was one which was recommended to me and from the swatches I really liked the colour, even though some people had said it was quite brown I thought it was worth a go. Taupe has a matte finish, but isn't drying at all which I was surprised about because you normally expect that from matte lipsticks. The colour is a pinky brown colour, and looks a lot more brown in the bullet than when you actually apply it too your lips. I like this because although it is natural it makes your lips stand out a bit more and if you are looking for something like velvet teddy but slightly darker this one would be perfect for you.
Lastly I have the one and only Velvet Teddy, again you can read the story about how I ended up with taupe and velvet teddy here. But as soon as this came back in stock I knew I had to have this shade, partly because of how hyped it has been but also I honestly did love the look of the colour. Now out of these three lipsticks this is the pinkier one, although its not like a bright pink more of slightly deeper pink but as you can see it is clearly the pinkest of the three. It has a matte finish and is all that its hyped to be, it wasn't exactly what I imagined but I actually love this colour so much.
So there are my three MAC lipsticks, all very similar but at the same time very different! What do you think?

These are so gorgeous! I love nude lipstick, you've really convinced me I need to get some MAC ones :) I think I'd be silly not to go for Velvet Teddy, it's just such a pretty colour! Great post x

Since buying it I have fallen in love with velvet teddy but I am tempted to get some more nudes so I have one for everything! xx
DeleteWow, "Cherish" and "Taupe" are very similar! However, I think the latter is a little bit deeper. Once you've done using up all of your nude lipsticks, definitely get Chanel's "Mademoiselle"; it's the only nude that you'll ever need, guaranteed!

I know! I will have a look at that, I don't own anything from Chanel but really want too! xx
DeleteAh, Velvet Teddy is such a dream of mine x
ReplyDeleteSuch a lovely colour xx
DeleteAll of these are gorgeous colours! I picked up Yash when I couldn't get Velvet Teddy and that's ended up being my favourite.

DeleteThey look less similar on your hand! All of my MAC lipsticks are NOTHING alike but there's nothing wrong with going with something you know works!

I didn't mean for them to end up so similar, I'm going to go for something completely different next time! xx
