Improving your lifestyle is a matter of dedication and education. From this point of view, you should know that it does not take any major upgrades or critical changes, but just small choices that will become part of your habits. A healthy lifestyle will boost both your physical and mental health. They must get along and function in a perfect balance. If one of these aspects goes wrong, so does the other. Then, what does it take to push your life to the next level? What kind of small changes should you focus on?

Your diet defines your lifestyle
You are what you eat. Eat trash and you become trash. Eat natural foods and you will feel as natural as possible. Some rules date for centuries, yet they are so common that plenty of people overlook them. They focus on small details that are less likely to work anyway.
Having three meals a day is the oldest trick in the book. Keep in mind that dinner does not need to be too heavy. A few snacks are always welcome, as long as you stick to fruits, veggies or other natural foods. Avoid chips, cakes or other sugar based foods.
Bulk consumption is sometimes uncontrollable. No matter how healthy you try to be, there are moments when you cravings become exquisite. At this point, stick to whole grains, vegetables and fruits only. Avoid fats.
When it comes to meat, the most problematic types of meat are usually the tastiest ones. They are also the unhealthiest ones. Stick to lean meats, poultry and fish if you need meat. Beans and nuts are better though, as they have more protein.
Your foods should be low in salt, sodium, sugars, trans fats, saturated fats and cholesterol. These are the harshest elements in the world, since they lead to most diseases. Check labels and remember that the first ingredients are the ones in the heaviest doses.
Control your portions. Do not eat until you feel full. Take a break and figure how you feel 20 minutes later. Chances are your hunger is satisfied before your craving.
Invest in some high quality kitchen gadgets and learn to cook for yourself. This will allow you to eat tasty and healthy at the same time.
Physical activity prevents affections
Physical activity keeps the body in a perfect shape. It keeps muscles and strength up, not to mention endurance, flexibility and balance. Exercises also prevent cardiovascular affections, obesity, arterial hypertension, diabetes and others. Plus, they can prevent osteoporosis in elders.
Exercising for 15 minutes a day will prevent and ameliorate chronic arthritis, while patients gain extra help in climbing stairs, opening jars and other daily activities.
Exercising for half an hour a day will boost your self-confidence and esteem, while anxiety and stress move on without any medications.Exercising for 45 minutes a day will lead to weight loss.
Modest exercises (like walking for an hour or riding a stationary bike in front of the TV) are more than enough to prevent most of the above-mentioned diseases. Do it three or four times a week. Sure, the greatest benefits come from doing it everyday.

In conclusion, maintaining a healthy lifestyle is not so hard, yet it takes a few changes.
