I strongly believe that your base is the most important part of your makeup, and something which I am yet to perfect however this is my current base routine. I love glowy, brightening base which is guaranteed to last all day.
Primer || L'Oreal Infallble Mattifying Base, despite having dry to combination skin this primer sits so well on my skin. Foundation sticks to it, making it last all day and although its mattifying its not at all drying so for my dry skin just leaves a perfectly matte, smooth base to apply foundation on top of.
Foundation || I have spoken about the Rimmel Lasting Finish Nude foundation loads before, I absolutely love it. Medium to full coverage, natural skin like finish, light on the skin, what more could you ask for? I mix this with a pump of the Seventeen Skin Wow Highlighter to add that glow, this liquid highlighter is my new obsession, mixed with foundation it adds the right amount of glow without you looking too shiny.
Concealer || NYX HD Photogenic Concealer, a very brightening concealer I have this in one of the lightest shades so it highlights under my eyes. I don't find it too heavy, or cakey under the eyes but still provides coverage.
Powder || I do not set my whole face, and in all honesty I try and use as little powder as I can just because I cannot get it to sit correctly on my skin. I use Rimmel Matte Perfect powder just under my eyes to set the concealer and to prevent creasing, but only a very light dusting.
What are you using as your current base? Do you have any foundation recommendations?

Never tried the mattifying primer before! I like the look of it, going to have to give it a go when mine runs out! I love the Rimmel powder for it's price, I don't use it all over either or I look like a powder monster x

I keep picking that Seventeen Skin Wow highlighter up and putting it down, picking it up and- ...well, you get the picture! I'm currently loving Vichy Dermablend foundation, followed by MAC Prep + Prime transparent setting powder and MAC soft and gentle highlighter xx

I'm the same as Laura. I keep picking that highlighter up too. I always worry it will be greasy but I think I might just give it a go now! I've been using the loreal foundation so I'd love to try the primer too. It's such a good range for oily skin

I agree that bases are important and have to admit I've never used any of the products you mentioned. Great post because it's making me think. :)
