Dealing With Those Down Days

Some days I wake up, and I'm happy, I'm positive and ready to face the day. Other days I wake up, empty of motivation, a little bit down and all I want to do is crawl back into the comfort of my bed, and wait for the feeling to go while wallowing in a hole of self pity and scrolling social media. It's days like this that I want gone, I want to turn a day like that around and here is some advice, tips and thoughts on just how to do that.
Acceptance, you need to accept that today is a bad day but you also need to get it into your mindset that you can  do something and focus on this. I know you just feel awful, and like giving up  but you need to get yourself going.

Get up, you cannot stay in bed. Wallowing in bed is the worse thing you can do, I know you want do but get up, wash you face and slap as much makeup as you can on your face. Red lipstick, glitter, all the highlight go all out- if that's your thing. If not, your feel good makeup will instantly just make yourself feel better and more put together.

Indulge, don't turn to food because then you'll eat a whole load of junk and feel even worse about yourself in the end. Do indulge in healthy food, but also in not food related luxuries. paint your nails, have a bath etc.

Find a task, make a list of things you want to do. Set your mind to it, and do it. Even if its small tasks, you will get the feeling of accomplishments which instantly makes yourself feel more upbeat and positive.

Set positives, give yourself something to focus on and look forward to. For me its usually the weekend, because I know I'll be at home and all the stress and unhappiness around school is gone for a couple of days. For you it may be the evening, a night out, a nail appointment etc.

I know how these days feel, and I know your probably reading this like this isn't going to help, I can't be bothered, today's a rite off. But just give it a go, even if its just one thing it will make you feel just that bit better. You can't be happy everyday, I know that's a bit harsh but its true. However you need to accept this, and work around solving the problem.

  1. I'm currently unemployed/doing only freelance work and I can have these days quite a bit at the moment. I think it's important to realise it's only a temporary feeling and to do something that COMPLETELY distracts you from it (as I'm not really rational in these moods)

  4. These were some great advices!!! :) when im feeling down, i try spending time with friends cause they always find a way to cheer me up
    food is also good. food helps. hahaha :p

  5. Acceptance is definitely the most difficult one on the list for me. I find it very difficult not to punish myself and wallow about for the rest of the day when something has caused it to go downhill. Great general advice here, I think! x

  6. I get these days a lot, and it can be so hard to motivate yourself to even get out of bed, but I do find I feel better if I get up, and make a start on tasks. Especially if I start the day with a nice soak in the bath! Great tips and I love those prints! :) x www.aimeeraindropwrites.co.uk x

  7. I hate those days, I seem to be having one today! But I totally agree with getting up and getting dressed and putting make up on, it instantly makes you feel like you can actually handle the day! To be honest, the best thing for me is to write 3 things to get done and just focus on them. Don't push myself but also don't sit around allowing myself to feel sorry for myself all day!
